Call for Abstracts

Thank you for your interest in the Great Plains Stormwater Conference! We are looking forward to sharing stormwater management strategies across federal, state, local, tribal, non-profit, and private sector professionals. The goal of this conference is to discuss the unique challenges of implementing green stormwater infrastructure (GSI)  in the Great Plains and how you have worked with stakeholders to design, plan, fund, and maintain GSI and other innovative practices to enhance watershed quality in your communities. If you have a project you would like to share, please submit an abstract for an oral presentation, poster presentation, or open discussion session. We are also accepting suggestions for special sessions if several presenters feel emphasis needs to be placed on specific topics. 

  • Abstracts will be accepted between June 15th and August 15th 
  • Abstracts should be 250-300 words 
  • Abstracts should concisely describe the scope, findings, and conclusions of the project 
  • Include 4-6 keywords to aid in categorization and scheduling of talks 
  • Accepted speakers will be notified by October 1st, 2026 


 
Potential topics include but are not limited to: 
– Regional watershed planning, including coordination across – governmental boundaries and overcoming challenges with integrating the needs of many stakeholders and actors. 
– Interconnecting city planning, stormwater planning, and economic development. 
– Implementation, performance assessment and/or maintenance of GSI and other stormwater BMPs. 
– Research or development of innovative stormwater management strategies 
– Finding and applying for funding for stormwater infrastructure projects. 
– Watershed-based MS4 permits and task forces. 
– Managing urban animal agriculture within MS4 boundaries.
