Green Stormwater Infrastructure Atlas

The Great Plains Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) Atlas, developed by the University of Oklahoma and its partners, is a regional tool for tracking and analyzing green infrastructure such as rain gardens, bioswales, and permeable pavements. It supports research and planning aimed at managing stormwater through natural hydrologic processes, reducing flooding, improving water quality, and enhancing ecosystem resilience. The initiative encourages a shift from traditional gray infrastructure toward innovative, climate‑adapted, and sustainable water management solutions for the Great Plains.

The Great Plains Stormwater Center of Excellence has launched a GSI survey inviting community members to share data and photos of their green stormwater projects. The information collected will help map existing practices, identify effective approaches, and find areas for improvement. This collaborative effort deepens stakeholder engagement and advances sustainable stormwater management across the region.
